Impact Modified Nylon Molding Compound is a modified PA6 engineering plastic designed to improve toughness under impact, bending, and changing temperature conditions.

 

Unlike reinforced nylon grades that focus more on stiffness and load-bearing capacity, this material places greater emphasis on impact resistance, low-temperature performance, bending durability, and easy molding.

 

Typical applications include cable ties, pulleys, sports equipment parts, mechanical gears, and textile accessories. These products may experience repeated movement, sudden impact, local bending, or changing mechanical loads during use.

 

For parts where excessive stiffness may increase the risk of cracking, toughened PA6 provides a different balance between flexibility and structural performance.

 

High Elongation and Impact Resistance

 

Representative grades in this series have a density of 1.03–1.09 g/cm³. Tensile strength at break ranges from 35 to 60 MPa, while elongation at break reaches 32%–80%.

 

Notched Izod impact strength is 50–100 kJ/m². The relatively high elongation and impact strength provide more deformation capacity when molded parts are exposed to sudden loads or localized stress.

 

Flexural strength ranges from 49 to 71 MPa, and flexural modulus is 1080–1700 MPa. This performance profile allows Impact Modified Nylon Molding Compound to provide a useful balance between toughness, flexibility, and basic structural strength.

 

Selection Should Follow the Finished Part

 

Different products require different priorities.

 

For cable ties, buyers should pay attention to bending performance, complete molding of the locking structure, and compatibility between the material and the fastening design.

 

For pulleys and mechanical gears, load, friction conditions, dimensional accuracy, and operating temperature should be considered. Sports equipment parts may require additional attention to impact direction, wall thickness, and connection structures.

 

The typical molding shrinkage range is 0.25%–1.30%. Because the range differs between grades, the exact grade should be selected according to mold dimensions and finished-part tolerances. Purchasing only on the basis of a general "high toughness" description may not provide enough information for stable production.
