Modified nylon granules are polymeric materials made from nylon (polyamide, PA) resin as a base, whose properties are optimized and improved by adding various functional additives, reinforcing materials, or blending with other polymers. Common modification methods include filler modification, reinforcement modification, toughening modification, flame retardant modification, and alloying modification.

 

Filler Modification: Inorganic fillers such as calcium carbonate, talc, and mica powder are added to nylon resin to improve the material's rigidity, hardness, dimensional stability, and reduce costs. For example, adding calcium carbonate can significantly increase the hardness of nylon, and it is often used in the manufacture of mechanical parts with high rigidity requirements.

 

Reinforcement Modification: Nylon is reinforced with fibrous materials such as glass fiber and carbon fiber, which significantly improves the material's tensile strength, flexural strength, and heat resistance. Reinforced nylon is widely used in automotive engine peripheral parts, such as intake manifolds.

 

Toughening Modification: Toughening agents such as rubber and thermoplastic elastomers are added to improve the toughness and impact resistance of nylon, solving the problem of low-temperature brittleness in nylon materials, making it suitable for manufacturing outdoor components.

 

Flame retardant modification: Flame retardants are added to give nylon flame retardant properties, meeting the fire safety requirements of materials in the electronics, electrical appliances, and construction industries, such as for manufacturing appliance housings.

 

Alloying modification: Nylon is blended with other polymers (such as polypropylene, polyethylene, etc.) to combine the advantages of multiple materials and give nylon new properties, such as improving nylon's water absorption and processing performance.
