A Brief History Of Research On Modified Nylon

Leave a message

China's modified nylon industry began in the 1970s. Its market size grew from RMB 4.176 billion in 2017 to RMB 10.21 billion in 2024, with a compound annual growth rate of 13.62%. The global modified nylon market size grew from USD 8.999 billion in 2017 to USD 15.673 billion in 2024, with a compound annual growth rate of 8.25%.

In 2024, China's nylon production reached 4.59 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 6.25% [4]. Since the industrialization of nylon in the mid-20th century, modification technology has gradually developed. Early modifications primarily focused on glass fiber reinforcement to improve material strength and heat resistance. After the 2010s, technologies such as halogen-free flame retardant and ultra-tough modification emerged.

In the 2020s, high-temperature resistant nylon and recycled nylon modification became the focus. Future development trends include: increased demand for high-performance reinforcing materials, with whisker-reinforced and carbon fiber-reinforced nylon becoming key technological breakthroughs; nylon alloying becoming a mainstream trend; accelerated development of nanotechnology; rising demand for environmentally friendly flame-retardant nylon; expanded applications of functional nylon; and the promotion of industrial upgrading through refined and integrated technologies.
